W.I.L.L – Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost?

Program costs vary, as each participant’s timetable is individually designed based on their NDIS goals, funded supports, needs, and capacity.

All paid supports are delivered in line with the current NDIS Price Guide, and charges are only applied where the support is:

  • Reasonable and necessary

  • Directly linked to the participant’s NDIS goals

  • Appropriately funded within the participant’s NDIS plan

Participants are charged for 1:1 Support Worker hours according to NDIS price limits.

From time to time, we are supported by qualified volunteers (including teachers and other professionals). When volunteers are involved, these sessions are not charged to the NDIS and are provided as optional value-add supports.

Where a support is not funded under an NDIS plan, families may choose to privately fund these optional sessions. Participation is always clearly communicated and entirely optional.

Why are group numbers kept so low?

Many neurodivergent young people experience increased anxiety in group settings. Keeping group numbers small allows us to:

  • Maintain safety and emotional regulation

  • Deliver meaningful, goal-focused support

  • Individualise support rather than using a one-size-fits-all model

  • Build trust and connection more effectively

Groups are intentionally formed based on participants’ interests, compatibility, and support needs.

Why is the program only for teens?

Our expertise lies in supporting young people through the developmental period spanning approximately 10 to 24 years, a widely recognised age range for adolescence and youth.

By focusing on this stage, supports remain:

  • Developmentally appropriate

  • Evidence-informed

  • Aligned with skills for independence, social participation, education, and future employment

This targeted approach allows us to deliver age-appropriate, meaningful support that prepares young people for adulthood.

Are you a school or teachers?

No. W.I.L.L is not a school and does not replace formal education.

We do have a registered teacher on our team. Their role is to support:

  • Learning readiness

  • Routines

  • Organisation

  • Engagement

  • Emotional and behavioural regulation related to learning

Our educational support focuses on capacity building, not curriculum delivery or academic assessment.

Where appropriate and funded, we support participants to engage with their chosen education pathway, including:

  • Mainstream schooling

  • Flexible learning

  • Distance education

  • Home education

  • TAFE

Does my child need to be enrolled in school?

Yes. Young people under 16 must be enrolled in an approved education option under Australian law.

Families connected with W.I.L.L use a variety of pathways, including mainstream, specialist, flexible, distance, and home education.

W.I.L.L supports engagement with these pathways through capacity building and routine support, not curriculum teaching.

We also provide in-school support where funded and required.

How do I apply for a place?

Submit an enquiry via our Enquiries Page.
A team member will contact you to discuss suitability, goals, and current capacity.

Due to high demand and our commitment to low ratios, placements cannot always be guaranteed — but we will always explore suitable options with families.

Can my child attend part-time or individual sessions?

Yes. Supports are flexible and individualised.
Participants may attend specific sessions, part-days, or targeted supports based on their goals, support needs, and funding.

Does my child need to be an NDIS participant to access W.I.L.L?

No. NDIS funding is not required.

We also welcome:

  • Self-funded families

  • Families waiting for NDIS approval

  • Families under review

  • Families choosing to privately fund certain supports

We will guide you through funding options if needed.

Can I visit the day program?

Yes. Visits are welcomed by appointment only, ensuring participants are prepared and the environment remains safe and regulated.

Are you an Allied Health Service?

No.

W.I.L.L is not an allied health or clinical therapeutic service.

We do not provide:

  • Clinical therapy

  • Psychological treatment

  • Occupational therapy

  • Speech therapy

  • Behaviour therapy

Our supports are non-clinical, capacity-building, and therapeutic-informed, delivered by trained support workers, youth mentors, and behaviour support implementers.
We collaborate with external clinicians (e.g., Psychologists, OTs, Speech Pathologists, Behaviour Support Practitioners) to ensure alignment and consistency.

For any clinical or diagnostic needs, we encourage families to work with their treating doctors, psychologists, occupational therapists or other registered health practitioners.
